KID DISAPPROVED!

Our child tester says that products made with this starter are “too chewy” and “don’t taste the same” as they normally do. Evidently she’s a big fan of common wheat, but the adults involved all like their spelt stuff! She looked wishy washy on whether this was 1 or 2 thumbs down, so we give it 1.5 thumbs down!

This Spelt sourdough bread starter is very lively and active and tends to be more hungry than our other sourdough starters. To combat this use a blend of 90/10 spelt and all purpose flour.

Spelt flour is not gluten free. However its said that spelt is easier on the digestive system but spelt flour does indeed contain gluten.
